Driving my life away

Well, today was kind of productive. I finally finished updating my resume which was not actually that hard just time consuming and then interviewing truckers on why they like their job and all that. Ever since getting furloughed from the railroad (laid off) most of the jobs in this area require a Class A CDL. So off I went to the DMV and slapped some money down and took the written test and passed oh I am sorry was I supposed to study for that thing. Started thinking to myself how easy it is to get the CDL, WRONG! Next I needed a truck to take the driving test in and well I do not know anybody with a big rig sitting in the driveway for me to use and I do not have an employer who has a truck for me to use since the employers want you to have it before they hire you. Then the state stepped in and told me they would give me a grant to go to school and get the CDL if I just complete all the required information. How hard could that be.

The stack of paper is about as thick as the bailout bill and I have to write essays on why I want to drive trucks and also go out and interview truckers on how they like their job, mom I need help with my home work. So I talked to one trucker and he told me about all the crazy stuff that happens on the road and invited me to travel with him across the U.S. to see if I would like it and he would show me what a reefer is. I am hoping that he is talking about the refrigerated trailers or this could be the start of a Cheech and Chong movie. I told him nicely that I do not plan on doing cross country trucking just local and thank him for the invite. Only a couple more interviews to go and then the packet is almost done then I can jam gears like the best of them. Unknown to the state I have previous experience driving eighteen wheeler since I had to quickly learn to drive one for harvest season last September, did really good to since I'm still above ground. Enough trucker talk for one evening, this is Pinto Bean out.
