window shopping.
I was window shopping back in my home town in North Idaho last weekend (sister was getting hitched) and decided to stop by some gun shops and see what was going on. All I can say if you like AK SK or AR you are shit out of luck when trying to find a good deal. The gun shop owners tell me that if I want an AK or SK that I have to buy one now this very minute cause the price will go up. So I looked at the prices and ooooh my god are you kidding me over four hundred for an SKS or almost a thousand for a AK ( not a true AK). I like these rifles but that is way too much for what they are or are not. The AK I was looking at was not really an AK, but to me just US made knock off of the real thing and who knows what kind of parts or workmanship went into building this thing. Then the shop owner was like well what would you pay for a AK-47. I thought hard back to the times I was working for Uncle Sam and was stomping around the world and every where else in the world these things were going for dirt cheap and I mean dirt cheap. So I told him forty dollars and he bout shit his pants "what makes you think forty dollars is a fare price!" he said. I went on to tell him that I could probably pick up a fully auto true Russian AK-47 for less than one hundred dollars in some of the countries that I have been in and that what makes you think that a 10 year old in Africa who totes one around had the thousands of US dollars to buy his, he probably got it for the price of a few chickens. He thought about it and said "true, but this ain't Africa". So I am pretty content with what I have for now. If the shit hits the fan and I need to move out well I got my trusty lever guide gun chambered in 45-70 to survive with and take down nasty UN troops or one of the many surplus bolt action rifles I have acquired they did the job before and can do it again. But unless the prices become realistic on these semi auto rifles like the AK then I would rather spend my money on something worth it like a M1 Garand fitted with a Douglas barrel. If General Patton endorsed it you couldn't go wrong.
