web gear.

Finally the weather here in eastern Oregon is starting to look like spring so depression go away. I have been building my tactical web belt for my rifle and it's going along just fine. The only problem I see for now is the amount of ammo I can carry on the belt since so far I have two ammo pouches on the belt and they hold fourteen rounds each and one canteen and one sack that hangs off the belt that I keep my first aid, cleaning kit and other odds and ends in. I know I can add a few more ammo pouches to the belt, but due to the heavy weight of the ammo I can see the belt wanting to head south. The big problem is the size of the ammo I use which is 45-70 which feeds my Marlin guide gun. I should 've bought a M1A, AR15, SKS, AK when I had the chance, but didn't since I am obsessed with older surplus arms and older Winchesters. Another problem is that I live in a small town with one gun / pawnshop and he has the monopoly. I am not going to pay two thousand dollars for a used AR15 that he has. So I am sticking with the 45-70 since it worked good for the army before why not again. So it is kinda back to the drawing board for the tactical gear if I want to add more ammo, but what I have now is better than nothing. And the army surplus store in town has everything but surplus looks like I am headed back out into the Internet for some shopping. What I really need is one of those suspenders that attaches to the web belt to help take the load off I think it's called ALICE gear, will find out though. Who knows maybe I will find a better set up than what I have.

I know I'm able to carry lots of ammo with just the right distribution and I'm a wussy about weight, sounds like you've got a plan.
